How the shape is constructed

Front and back walls have corner flaps. Double end walls with a return form pockets for the corners. Locking tabs on the inner end walls engage in bottom slots; the tray requires no corner gluing.

How it is assembled

Erect front and back walls and fold the corner flaps inwards. Erect the end walls over them, fold the return inwards so that the corner flaps sit in the pocket, and insert the tabs into the bottom slots.

What to consider for this construction

Return width

Width of the double wall's return (crease to crease); accommodates the flaps in the pocket.

Flap gap

Gap between adjacent flaps or walls; at least about the material thickness.

Ear length (ratio)

Length of the ears or corner flaps as a proportion of half the inside width.

Tab count

Number of locking tabs per wall.

Tab width

Width of a locking tab.

Frequently asked questions

How do the corners lock without adhesive?

First fold in the corner flaps. The end walls fold inwards over them and hold the flaps in a pocket. Tabs on the inner wall engage in slots in the bottom. The source code describes this design without gluing. Check with the chosen board whether the tabs engage securely and remain undamaged during erection.

How many tabs can an end wall have?

The lockTabCount parameter permits one to three tabs and starts at two. Tab width, gap and inner wall must fit together; a higher count does not automatically create greater load capacity. The constraint lockTabWidth.fitsInnerWall limits the space required. Check insertion and fit in the bottom slot on a sample, especially with small end walls.

Does the version shown have a viewing window?

This page shows V1 without window parameters. The repository also registers V2 with an optional front wall window. The additional option changes the parameter set and is therefore maintained as a new version. Use this page's version information during handover; window film is not part of the V1 construction shown here.
