Corrugated components and inserts / JETDIELINE

Slotted container with meeting inner flaps

The inner flaps meet in the middle and close the opening. Outer flaps with an adjustable gap lie over them; the custom construction calculates both flap layers together.

How the shape is constructed

The side inner flaps reach the middle of the opening. Front and rear carry outer flaps whose free edges remain separated by outerFlapGap. This gap's starting value is 50 mm. The same closure construction is intended at the top and bottom; the glue flap forms the side seam.

How it is assembled

Glue or staple the glue flap to the opposite wall. Erect for filling, fold in the inner bottom flaps until they meet in the middle, place the outer flaps over them and tape; repeat at the top.

What to consider for this construction

Glue flap

Width of the glue flap used to glue the blank into a tube. The material requires a minimum width.

Glue flap angle

Angle at the ends of the glue flap; makes folding and erection easier.

Flap gap

Gap between adjacent flaps or walls; at least about the material thickness.

Gap between the outer flaps

Distance between the free edges of the two outer flaps in the middle of the opening (0 = outer flaps meet); each outer flap remains at least 20 mm high.

Frequently asked questions

Which flaps meet in the middle?

The inner flaps at the sides close the entire opening and meet in its middle. The front and rear outer flaps lie over them. Their edges leave a gap of 50 mm in the starting example. Do not confuse this gap with the slots between adjacent flaps.

Can I close the outer flap gap completely?

outerFlapGap can be 0 mm; the outer flaps then also meet in the middle. The inner flaps remain underneath. This changes the visible print area and closure. Recalculate after the change and check both material layers and the taping on the erected sample.

How large can the gap be?

The general range extends to 600 mm. In practice, outerFlapGap.geometric.keepsOuterFlap limits the gap based on the narrow side of the opening so that each outer flap retains at least 20 mm. These 20 mm are a construction limit, not confirmation for your taping or production process.
