Glossary / JETDIELINE
The blank is the unfolded workpiece from which packaging is made.
It includes the eventual panels and flaps. Creases connect areas folded against each other during assembly. The blank differs from its bounding rectangle, which also includes areas outside the actual contour. Different metrics therefore matter for material requirements and processing. A paper prototype helps understand the folding sequence; fit also requires the intended material.
