It is part of the closure and differs from a side dust flap. Depth, radius and shoulders affect how it inserts and holds. Suitable geometry depends on the packaging type and material. A dimension change can therefore affect more than the front panel. Check on the prototype that the flap moves freely, the lid closes and the box can be opened in the intended workflow.
