Corrugated shipping boxes / JETDIELINE

Mailer with closure flap

Mailer with double side walls and an external closure flap. A self-adhesive strip connects the flap to the front wall; a tear strip opens it. The bottom tabs still hold the wall structure.

How the shape is constructed

Corrugated mailer with double side walls and ears; the lid overlaps the outside of the front wall with a closure flap sealed by a self-adhesive strip and opened using a tear strip – shipping packaging for online retail.

How it is assembled

Erect the front and back walls and fold the ears inwards. Erect the side walls, fold the turnover and inner wall over the ears and insert the tabs into the bottom slots. After filling, fold in the lid dust flaps, close the lid, peel off the release strip and press the closure flap against the outside of the front wall. To open, grasp the tear tape and pull out the strip.

Material and grain direction

Flute direction parallel to the blank’s y-axis: double-wall creases fold neatly, lid hinge and tuck flap remain stiff (check with the test printer).

Test fit, folding and closure on a sample made from the intended material. Confirm material thickness, grain direction and production steps with your printer.

What to consider for this construction

Rollover width

Width of the double wall's rollover (crease-to-crease); holds the flaps in the pocket.

Flap gap

Gap between adjacent flaps or walls; at least about the material thickness.

Ear length (ratio)

Length of the ears or corner flaps as a proportion of half the inside width.

Lid dust flaps (ratio)

Length of the lid dust flaps as a proportion of the inside height.

Dust flap angle

Angle of the dust flaps (also the ears on a mailer); larger angles prevent collisions during folding.

Frequently asked questions

Does the front wall have locking slots?

This type has no front wall slots for the lid closure. The closure flap is glued to the outside of the wall. Bottom slots remain because they receive the double side wall tabs. Do not confuse this assembly lock with the self-adhesive lid closure.

How is flap depth limited?

closureFlapDepth starts at 30 mm and ranges up to 100 mm. The frontWall constraint also limits depth relative to the actual front wall. The flap needs clearance from the base. A value within the table range may therefore still be invalid for a low mailer.

What happens if the adhesive strip is too wide?

The adhesive strip and tear strip must sit apart on the same flap. The stripsFitClosureFlap constraint compares their dimensions with flap depth. Adjust width, spacing and flap together. Moving a strip after SVG export would bypass this check and would not represent a documented parameter state.
