How the shape is constructed

Front and back walls have corner flaps. Double end walls with a rollover form pockets for the corners. Locking tabs on the inner end walls engage in bottom slots; the tray needs no corner gluing.

How it is assembled

Erect the front and back walls and fold the corner flaps inward. Erect the end walls over them, fold the rollover inward so the corner flaps lie in the pocket, and insert the tabs into the bottom slots.

What to consider for this construction

Foldover width

Width of the double wall's foldover (crease to crease); accommodates the flaps in the pocket.

Flap gap

Gap between neighboring flaps or walls; at least approximately the material thickness.

Ear length (ratio)

Length of the ears or corner flaps as a ratio of half the inside width.

Tab count

Number of locking tabs per wall.

Tab width

Width of a locking tab.

Frequently asked questions

How do the locking corners engage without adhesive?

First, fold in the corner flaps. The end walls roll inward over them and hold the flaps in a pocket. Tabs on the inner wall engage in slots in the bottom. The source code describes this construction without adhesive. Check with the chosen board whether the tabs engage securely and remain undamaged during erection.

How many tabs can an end wall have?

The lockTabCount parameter allows one to three tabs and starts at two. Tab width, gap, and inner wall must fit together; a higher count does not automatically provide more load capacity. The constraint lockTabWidth.fitsInnerWall limits the space required. Check insertion and fit in the bottom slot on the sample, particularly with small end walls.

Does the version shown have a viewing window?

This page shows V1 without window parameters. V2 with an optional front wall window is also registered in the repository. The additional option changes the parameter set and is therefore maintained as a new version. Use this page's version designation during handoff; window film is not part of the V1 construction shown here.
