Folding cartons / JETDIELINE

Straight tuck-end carton

Blank, creases, and flaps are calculated from inside dimensions. The result is an artwork PDF, production dieline, and production sheet for the print shop.

How the shape is constructed

From left to right: glue flap, left side, front, right side, and back. Both tuck flaps are attached to the front. Dust flaps are on the sides.

How it is assembled

Pre-break the blank along all creases. Glue the glue flap to the inside of the opposite wall and lay the carton flat. Erect for filling, fold in the dust flaps, and insert the tuck flaps.

Material and grain direction

Grain direction parallel to height (check)

Test fit, folding and closure on a sample made from the intended material. Confirm material thickness, grain direction and production steps with your printer.

What to consider for this construction

Glue flap

Width of the glue flap used to glue the blank into a tube. The material requires a minimum width.

Glue flap angle

Bevel at the ends of the glue flap; facilitates folding and erection.

Tuck depth

How far the tuck flap reaches into the box; at most approximately half the width (the height for the mailer).

Tuck flap radius

Corner radius of the tuck flap; limited by half the flap width or tuck depth.

Tuck flap shoulder

Side inset of the tuck flap relative to the lid, allowing easy insertion.

Frequently asked questions

What distinguishes straight and reverse tuck-end cartons?

In a straight tuck-end carton, both tuck flaps are attached to the front. In the reverse construction, the lower flap is attached to the back. This changes the closure and the reading direction of individual panels. Therefore check artwork and filling workflow on the appropriate construction.

Which inside dimensions do I need for a 50 ml jar?

Fill volume does not determine the jar's outside dimensions. Measure diameter and total height, including the closure. Required clearance depends on insertion, material, and a possible insert. Final inside dimensions cannot be specified without this information; confirm them on a sample.

How large does the glue flap need to be?

The parameter range and starting value appear in the table. The minimum in the material profile is also decisive. Adhesive, production workflow, and material may impose further requirements. MFG-001 flags a glue flap that is too narrow; confirm the final width with your print shop.
