How the shape is constructed

Corrugated box with a snap-lock bottom whose upper outer flaps overlap fully and are glued; both flaps have a centered handle cutout for the hand to pass through – for carrying without an additional handle.

How it is assembled

Glue the glue flap, erect the box, and close the snap-lock bottom (side flaps, flap with tongue, flap with tab under the tongue). After filling, fold in the upper inner flaps, place the back outer flap and then the front outer flap over it so the handle cutouts align, and glue over the full area.

Material and grain direction

Flute direction parallel to the height: stable for stacking (check with the test print shop).

Test fit, folding and closure on a sample made from the intended material. Confirm material thickness, grain direction and production steps with your printer.

What to consider for this construction

Glue flap

Width of the glue flap used to glue the blank into a tube. The material requires a minimum width.

Glue flap angle

Bevel at the ends of the glue flap; facilitates folding and erection.

Flap gap

Gap between neighboring flaps or walls; at least approximately the material thickness.

Bottom flap overlap

Overlap of flaps 3 and 4 outside the closure.

Locking tab length

Length of the locking tab on flap 4 that engages under the tongue of flap 3.

Frequently asked questions

Is the handle an attached part?

No. Both upper outer flaps have a slot cutout. After closing, the cutouts align and form the hand opening. The lid flaps are glued over their full area. A plastic handle or additional carrying strap is not part of this model and cannot be promised from it.

What load may the box carry?

The catalog and starting profile specify no approved load capacity. Handle webs, corrugated board, adhesive, and snap-lock bottom jointly determine load capacity. The initial run checks geometry and manufacturability. Perform load tests with the actual contents and have the production partner confirm the construction before stating a load capacity.

Why is a longer handle not always possible?

The handle must lie between the inner flaps without eliminating the remaining webs. gripLength.geometric.betweenInnerFlaps accounts for this area. The table range of 60 to 200 mm is therefore only the general range. For a short box, even a value within it may be invalid due to the actual geometry.
